1932

The Union of Icelandic Fish Producers (SÍF)

Founded in 1932 for export of salted fish products.

1935

The Herring Board

Founded in 1935 for the export of salted herring from Iceland.

1957

Samband of Iceland

establishes a seafood division for export of frozen seafood.

1999

Armengol

Spanish company purchased in 1999.

1999

Merger: SÍF and Iceland Seafood Plc.

Including the Herring Board, under the name SIF Plc.

2004

SÍF Plc founds Iceland Seafood International

in order to take over all export and sales of marine products.

2008

Tros

The first company to export fresh fish from Iceland became a part of Iceland Seafood.

2010

IS Barraclough

Acquired in 2010 and marks the beginning of value-added operations in the UK food service industry.

2012

Havelok

Founded as a joint venture, it was merged with Iceland Seafood Barraclough in 2020 to form Iceland Seafood UK.

2016

First North listing

Iceland Seafood listed on the First North Iceland market.

2018

Oceanpath

Purchased in 2018, Oceanpath is the largest seafood provider in the Irish retail market.

Solo Seafood

Purchased in 2018, creating a strong integrated company in the Southern European market.

Our headquarters are in Iceland, and we operate three divisions with nine businesses in Europe and South America.

Our history and heritage date back to 1932 from three associations: the Union of Icelandic Fish Producers (SIF), founded in 1932; the Herring Board, founded in 1935; and the Seafood Division of Samband of Iceland, founded in 1957.

Our strong roots in the Icelandic seafood sector form the basis of our expertise and long-lasting relationships built on trust and reliability. Today, Iceland Seafood is a respected industry-leading North Atlantic seafood supplier and a leading service provider in our markets.

Iceland Seafood France, based in Boulogne-surMer, provides high-quality seafood from Iceland and various global sources. The company supplies fresh and frozen products to food service, retail and processors in France. www.icelandseafood.fr

Iceland Seafood Germany, located in Bremerhaven, supplies high-quality fresh seafood. Fresh fish is mainly flown in from Iceland for delicatessen stores, food service, and retail. Southern Europe Division

Iceland Seafood Ibérica is a key company within the Iceland Seafood International Group. Its facilities are in Viladecavalls, near Barcelona, and it also runs offices in Vigo, Bilbao and Italy. It offers a variety of frozen and salted products from all major fishing grounds in the world. The company handles refrigerated and frozen products, catering to key markets such as Spain, Italy, Portugal, and Greece. It operates a production plant optimised for high volumes that reinforces its status as the Mediterranean’s largest importer of salted cod from Iceland, blending industry expertise with a commitment to excellence and sustainability. www.icelandseafood.es

The company also runs Achernar, a factory in Argentina processing shrimp for all markets. It was founded in 2012, and in 2017, after being acquired by Icelandic Ibérica, it undertook the first phase of investments with the purchase and transformation of the plant in Puerto Madryn. The company specialises in processing and exporting the Argentinean Red Shrimp. Ahumados Domínguez is the latest addition to the Iceland Seafood family. The company is known for producing premium-quality smoked salmon. It has a strong brand and consumer recognition in the Spanish retail market. It actively runs consumer campaigns and has direct consumer-facing through its speciality stores. Northen Europe Division

From Dublin’s Shores to the most discerning tables Oceanpath, established in 1991 by the Ecock family, is a leading seafood processor in Howth, Dublin. Over the years, it has become one of Ireland’s largest fresh and smoked seafood suppliers, serving All Irish retailers and food service providers. Oceanpath is renowned for its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability, employing advanced traceability systems and high standards in seafood processing.

Dunn’s Legacy, Oceanpath’s Future: in 2006, Oceanpath acquired Dunn’s of Dublin, Ireland’s oldest seafood brand, established in 1822, expanding its portfolio, particularly in premium smoked seafood.

Dunn’s smoked salmon gained international recognition for its quality. In 2020, Carr & Sons joined the Oceanpath group, which enabled us to further diversify our product range with a range of smoked salmon and ready-to-eat seafood products. In 2018, Oceanpath became part of Iceland Seafood International, strengthening its global reach while maintaining its commitment to traditional values and exceptional products.

Birna Einarsdóttir
Chairman of the Board

FIRST ELECTED: November 2023

Birna was the CEO of Íslandsbanki hf. from 2008 – 2023. She has over 30 years of experience in the banking sector, both in Íslandsbanki and in the Royal Bank of Scotland. Before her banking career, she worked in marketing.

Education: Business Administration, Cand.oecon from the University of Iceland and has an MBA from the University of Edinburgh.

Jakob Valgeir Flosason

Jakob has an extensive knowledge of the Icelandic fishing industry from all perspectives, a knowledge that not many people possess. He has been involved in every aspect of the sector from early age, working in factories, on fishing boats and building up the family company to become one of the most technology advanced and leading company within the Icelandic fishing sector.

Bergþór Baldvinsson

Bergþór has been the CEO of Nesfiskur since 1979. Nesfiskur is a family-owned company that Bergþór and his parents established in 1975. Working at Nesfiskur since a teenager, Bergþór has familiarised himself with every aspect of the industry. The small family company has grown constantly since its beginning; today, Nesfiskur and its subsidiaries employ around 400 people.

Bergþór is a board member of FSM hf, Umbúðamiðlun hf, Nesfiskur ehf, and companies within the Nesfiskur Group.

Ingunn Agnes Kro
Board member

FIRST ELECTED: February 2019 as an alternate Board member and as a Board member from March 2020

Ingunn is the chairman of RARIK ohf. (the state´s electricity grid company), a board member of Sjóvá Almennar tryggingar hf. (insurance company), Freyja slhf. (private equity fund), Miklatorg hf. (IKEA franchisee), Sóltún heilbrigðisþjónusta ehf. (nursing homes) and the Wetlands Fund (environmental NGO).

Previously, Ingunn was the general manager of Jarðvarmi slhf. and a Director of Administration and Communication at Skeljungur hf., a company listed on Nasdaq Iceland, heading internal and external comm

Halldór Leifsson
Board member

FIRST ELECTED: March 2020

Halldór is Marketing and Sales Director at Fisk Seafood ehf. He has worked in the seafood industry since 1990 in all the key segments, including management of production, fleet, sales, office, and finance, as well as in the role of deputy MD and MD. Halldór holds a degree in Fishery Technology from the Technical University of Iceland and has studied Business Management at the University of Reykjavík and business courses at the University of Iceland. Halldór is the principal owner and board member of the company Haf-sjór slf.

Gunnlaugur Karl Hreinsson
Alternate Board member

FIRST ELECTED: October 2023

Gunnlaugur Karl Hreinsson is the CEO and owner of GPG Seafood. Gunnlaugur has decades of experience within the seafood sector.

Gunnlaugur is the chairman of the board of GPG Seafood ehf, Þórsnes ehf, Sólrún ehf, Austmar ehf and Útgerðarfélag Norðurþings ehf. He is a board member of Safír byggingar ehf and Sæfell ehf in addition to his alternate board membership with ISI hf.

Ægir Páll Friðbertsson
CEO

Ægir Páll has over 30 years of management experience in the finance and seafood sectors as well as consulting for various companies.

  • From 2018 until October 2023 Ægir Páll was the COO of Brim hf (previously HB Grandi).
  • From 2015 until 2017 he was Managing Director of Brim hf , now known as Útgerðarfélag Reykjavíkur – ÚR.
  • From 2010 until 2014 he was in consulting. • From 2001 until 2009 he was Managing Director of Ísfélag hf.

Ægir Páll holds an MSc in Finance from the University of Iceland, and Cand Oceon degree from the University of Iceland.

Ægir Páll is currently the chairman of the board of Jöklar-Verðbréf hf. and a board member of Viðskiptaráð (e. Iceland Chamber and Commerce) and Íslandsstofa (e.Promote Iceland). Ægir Páll is also a board member of several of the Issuer’s subsidiaries.

Alda Björk Óskarsdóttir
CFO

Alda is a certified public accountant with wide experience in financial management, accounting, and auditing. Alda joins ISI from Treble Technologies; previously, she served as a financial controller at Sidekick Health and as an auditor at Grant Thornton and PWC.

Alda holds an MSc in International Business and a MACC in accounting and auditing from Reykjavík University, along with a BA in psychology from the University of Iceland.
