Achernar was founded in 2012 as a fish and seafood processor and trader. In 2017, after being acquired by Icelandic Ibérica, it undertook the first phase of investments with the purchase and transformation of the plant in Puerto Madryn and specialised in processing and exporting the "red gold of the South Seas", the Argentinean Red Shrimp, and also squid.

In 2019, the merger of Icelandic Ibérica with Iceland Seafood into the new Iceland Seafood Ibérica will bring a further strategic and investment boost and position Achernar as one of the leading exporters in the south of Argentina.

Puerto Madryn excels as a fishing port thanks to its strategic location near rich South Atlantic fishing grounds, modern infrastructure, and commitment to quality and sustainability.

Our product range

We build long-term relationships based on compliance and an excellent product.

At Achernar, we have exclusive access to fleets of boats that fish in the main shrimp seasons (Rawson and National), which makes us a stable and reliable supplier.

We obtain our squid from reliable suppliers with long-term agreements to impose our quality and freshness criteria. Other processors complement the processes and capacities of our plant in Puerto Madryn to provide maximum added value to our products.
