At Iceland Seafood Ibérica, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability by leading the VALORAFOOD 2.0 project, an initiative aimed at transforming fish by-products into new high-value resources, fostering a model based on the principles of a circular economy.
The project is coordinated by the Catalonia Foodservice Cluster, with the support of the Government of Catalonia, and involves the participation of:
- Frime, a leader in the processing and commercialization of tuna and swordfish.
- IRTA, a research institute specializing in agro-food innovation.
- Radi, a company focused on technological solutions for waste and by-product valorization.
Turning waste into opportunities
VALORAFOOD 2.0 seeks to maximize the use of by-products such as fish skins, bones, and heads by developing innovative technologies to transform them into functional foods, nutritional supplements, and bioactive ingredients for industries such as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
Commitment to leadership and sustainability
For Iceland Seafood Ibérica, leading this initiative represents a significant step towards consolidating a more sustainable and responsible model in the fishing industry. This project not only helps reduce environmental impact but also creates new business opportunities through the valorization of marine resources.
As project leaders, we work closely with our partners to develop solutions that make a difference in the sector and meet the growing demand for sustainability from consumers and international markets.
